No longer in Lincoln by 1881 – living in Portland Crescent, Leeds – occupation ‘Commercial Traveller (stationer)’. Wife still at same address in 1891 but ‘widowed and living on own means’. (A Wm. Banks S. died Leeds 1890 although age and place of birth not corresponding with above WBS, but given the approximations used in relevant surveys it could well be him.)

Crockford’s records he was in pastoral work (? curate) in Paget, Bermuda 1907-1908. Also, Curate of Messingham with East Butterwick, Lincs 1914-1915.

Wm Banks Spain b. 1841. Married Elizabeth Stubbs 1861. Business address in 1872 – 3, Steep Hill, Lincoln. Bookseller, Stationer, Printer & Bookbinder. Secretary of Lincoln Cathedral Choral Society. (Refs: Census 1871. White’s Directory (Lincs) 1872.

? Wm. Banks Spain b. circa 1841. (Had a brother Thomas D. Spain.) Bookseller & Stationer, Lincoln. Married 1861 to Elizabeth Jane Stubbs. No issue yet found.

Have come across a Thomas Borkil Spain (probably Burkill) born Lincoln 1810 died Lincoln 1883.
