m. Mary Beatrice Preedy

Mary Dixon-Spain

b: 10 MAR 1888 in Plymouth, Devon

d: DEC 1915 in Lutton, Lincolnshire

David Secker says, “May 1915 Hubert Crawford married Mary Preedy daughter of Canon Preedy, Saltash, Cornwall. Mary died six months later after a short illness. She is buried in Lutton cemetery – a processional cross still in the church commemorates her.”

Below are Mary’s obituary and the register showing her death – with first evidential support of the Reverend J. Dixon-Spain, who stood in for HCDS while he mourned her.

Thanks for this David! I am now wondering where she was exposed to Typhoid. Would it have been in the parish? Or perhaps on honeymoon. Am now going to have to research this …
